Inspired by the exhibition of works by Barbara Hanrahan Bee-stung lips.
Join Adelaide based artist Sally Caston as you explore Hanrahan’s techniques, understand her processes and then create artwork inspired by the exhibition.
In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to design, carve and print a lino block. Working solvent-free, you will develop a small body of work and take home your lino block, a collection of prints and the skills to carve and print at home.
Working in a studio environment across the day you will learn practical relief printing and linocut techniques, including Lino block preparation, cutting techniques, paper handling, how to use a press. Across the afternoon session you will be developing a second colour or plate to print with your block you prepared in the morning session.
All the while discussing different approaches to this technique adopted by range of artists, Sally will highlight ways you can realise your own creative ideas using the simple yet powerful medium of linocuts.
