Creative Arts Fund now open

The City of Mount Gambier Creative Arts Fund is now open for applications with a total of $25,000 available to local artists and not-for-profit organisations and community groups to support the delivery of inspiring, creative and contemporary projects that seek to contribute to a vibrant and culturally diverse community.

The Creative Arts Fund aims to activate public spaces to encourage creative and social interaction, create a vibrant street culture and develop stimulating spaces that attract visitors and create a sense of community attachment.

“Council recognises that cultural sharing and artistic expression build resilient communities with a strong sense of place and that is why we are seeking to fund projects that are highly visible and engaging for the community,” City of Mount Gambier Manager Arts and Cultural Development Dr Melentie Pandilovski said.

The Creative Arts Fund aims to support programs, projects, initiatives and events and festivals that enrich Mount Gambier and encourage cultural tourism.

“We want to see projects that stimulate cultural and artistic exchange and build community capacity, contribute to social wellbeing and produce high quality artistic works that celebrate Mount Gambier’s distinct arts, culture and heritage.”
– City of Mount Gambier Manager Arts and Cultural Development Dr Melentie Pandilovski

“Projects may focus on, but are not limited to, performing and visual arts, literature, film, design, multimedia, history and heritage.”

Projects must align with the City of Mount Gambier Community Plan, Culture and Heritage Plan and Public Art Strategy with applications assessed against the priorities detailed in the program guidelines.

The guidelines and application forms for the Creative Arts Fund are available here.

Applications close on Friday 6 December 2019 at 5:00pm.
