SIDNEY NOLAN’S NED KELLY SERIES
A National Gallery of Australia Exhibition

For the first time in 15 years, the National Gallery of Australia’s collection of Sidney Nolan’s ‘Ned Kelly’ paintings is touring Australia in its entirety. The national tour gives Australians across the country the chance to experience some of the most famous and poignant masterpieces of 20th-century Australian art.

Sidney Nolan’s Ned Kelly series depicts the story of Australia’s most infamous outlaw in a sequence of 26 paintings.

Nolan’s starkly simplified silhouette and vibrant colour strokes brought this early colonial mythology to life, with Nolan’s depiction quickly forming part of Australia’s shared iconography.

The series is a masterclass on Australian art history and the development of a new figuration and landscape depiction in Australian art.

This exciting exhibition runs from 22nd June until 4th August.

Exhibition opening starts at 6pm, with wine supplied by our hospitality partner, Caroline Hills Winery.
