Suffragette Film Screening

Event Date: Wed 18 Dec

Event Time: 6:30 PM

Event Location: Dress Circle

Event Type:

The Adult Suffrage Bill passed on 18 December 1894, awarding South Australian women the right to vote in general elections and to stand for parliament – for the first time anywhere in Australia. Gaining the vote was a huge step towards gender equality and positive change for women in South Australia.

To celebrate “their triumph, our motivation” we are holding a FREE public screening of the movie SUFFRAGETTE (Rated M) on the anniversary of the vote.

Join us in the Dress Circle on Wednesday December 18th at 6.30pm, with drinks and nibbles provided.

The Riddoch & Main Corner Complex will also host a display of historical photos and clothing from the era in the Kings Floor for the occasion, and the Mount Gambier Library are hosting an array of activities to mark the anniversary, including rosette making workshops for kids.
