I OWN A PHIL RILEY
Phil Riley
9 August - 26 October 2025 Balcony
If you happen to glance down on the wrist of a local in Mount Gambier you will not be surprised when your eyes fall upon the knots of gold or silver of a Phil Riley bracelet. Riley’s bracelets mark the marriages, birthdays, and sentiments of so many loves and losses – the jeweller’s handiwork has become iconic to the place itself.
Riley works by commission and his work is at the service of the community, the bracelets are a conduit for connection and, in a way that only jewellery can, brings light to the thousands of stories and personal connections between people. His works have become global conversation starters and identifiers for Mount Gambier.
Looking at Riley’s work through that lens of connection, I own a Phil Riley picks up on a collection of pieces loaned from the community to present their stories alongside the fantastic and familiar bracelets we know so well.
