Calibre – Limestone Coast Senior High School Art Award

Presented by The Riddoch Art Gallery, this inaugural exhibition dedicated to Senior High School students in the Limestone Coast will award a major prize of $1000 to the winning entry. Showcasing the most creative and innovative work from young people in the region, students are nominated by teachers and will encompass visual art, design, photography, performing art, media or creative art. The major prize will be awarded to the winner on opening night, Friday 31 January, 6pm.

Teachers can nominate up to four students, per subject, who have received A+/A/A- results in any of the following Stage 2 subjects studied in 2019:
• Visual Art
• Design
• Photography
• Digital Technology
• Arts focused integrated learning, such as Elite Performing Arts/Media/Creative Arts

Nominations are via a supplied nomination form and need to include images of the work (maximum 4 photographs, stills/screenshots for moving image work) and practitioner’s statement, along with contact details for the teacher and student.

DEADLINE EXTENSION: Nominations can now be submitted by email to the Riddoch Art Gallery by midnight, Sunday 12 January 2020.

A panel will select the final students to be shown in the Riddoch Art Gallery’s Cathleen Edkins Gallery, with students and schools notified by Monday 13 January 2020. To participate, students will need to deliver (or arrange delivery of) their work to the Riddoch Art Gallery on Monday 20 or Tuesday 21 January 2020, between 10am-5pm. Students will be responsible for the delivery and collection of their work prior to and at the conclusion of the exhibition.

On Friday 31 January 2020, Opening Night, the major award winner will be announced. All winners will be published on the Riddoch Art Gallery website and media release produced.

IMPORTANT DATES:

Students and schools notified: Monday 13 January 2020
Students deliver work: 20 – 21 January, 10am – 5pm, Riddoch Art Gallery.
Opening Night: Friday 31 January, 6pm.
