Richard Harris learnt to cave dive in Mount Gambier in 1986 and has continued to visit and build a relationship with the region ever since. His explorations have taken him around the world visiting spectacular caves, wrecks and reefs. Best known for his Tham Luang cave rescue work in Thailand 2018, Harris has gone on to work as a videographer with a special interest in water ecology and underwater caving.  

The moving image work projected on the west window of the Riddoch captures footage from underwater caves in the Lower South-East, South Australia, as well as on the Roe Plain in Western Australia.  

Harris’ photography shares with us the beauty of these incredible habitats and the sense of adventure the diver feels in that moment.

Richard Harris is a doctor, cave diver, author and videographer who now runs the video company Speleopix.
In 2018 Harris was awarded (with colleague Craig Challen) the Star of Courage (SC) and Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) by the Governor General of Australia. The same year he was appointed as Knight Grand Cross (First Class) of the Most Admirable Order of the Direkgunabhorn, by the King of Thailand.
